1. What will you need to know when I first get in contact?
I will ask you a few questions about yourself and what you are experiencing so that I can understand a little more about your concerns and your needs. You can also ask me questions about what you want to know about therapy. If you would like to go ahead and book an appointment after our initial chat, then we would schedule your first appointment. There is no obligation to book an appointment at this stage.
2. What happens in my first appointment?
The first appointment is to get to know each other and for you to get a feel for the therapy space, it can help us to decide if we feel we are able to work together. There is no obligation after the first appointment to continue if you feel counselling with me is not right for you at this time.
3. What happens next?
If we decide to work together then we would have a simple contract, which covers certain key points including day/time of appointment, confidentiality and cancellation details.
4. How often and how long will sessions last?
Sessions are usually held the same time and day each week and are 50 minutes in duration.
5. How long will I need / can I have counselling for?
I offer both short- and long-term counselling. Some clients choose to meet for a few weekly sessions to look at a specific issue, whilst others, who need more time to reconnect with themselves and find the right path forward, come weekly for a number of months or years.
